Welcome to Puglia, Italy- the heel of Italy’s famous boot. Hundreds of miles of Mediterranean coastlines have people flocking to the region for fun in the sun and gorgeous wines. Pinot Grigio became a major import to the US from Italy in the 1970s and peaked in popularity in the 1990s as a stark alternative to the buttery, oak-aged Chardonnays of the time. Comparatively, Pinot Grigio is a slightly savory breath of fresh air. While some wine snobs may turn up their noses at Pinot Grigio, the varietal and San Cisalto in particular, are well worth a try (we think you might fall head over heels).
The nose is filled with fresh aromas of green apple, pear and straw. The same notes can be found on the palate, resulting in a wine that is light, refreshing and airy, but can still hold its own when paired with food. We recommend pairing with a fresh salad (the spicy bite of arugula would pair beautifully), grilled chicken or seafood.
